Specialized Trauma, PTSD, & CPTSD Treatment

At The Meridian, our therapists specialize in trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD. We understand that trauma affects each person differently, and treatment should reflect that.

Our clinicians draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-focused CBT, somatic therapy, and trauma-focused psycho-education.

Treatment is designed to help you process both the experience itself and the ways it's still showing up in your life. We will help you develop skills, explore identity, and increase stabilization in your life.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you've found that traditional talk therapy only got you so far, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you.

How PTSD differs from C-PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) typically develops after a single traumatic event, such as an accident, assault, or natural disaster. Complex PTSD (CPTSD) results from prolonged or repeated trauma, often beginning in childhood or occurring in situations where escape wasn't possible, such as ongoing abuse, neglect, or captivity in a harmful relationship. Both conditions can involve flashbacks, nightmares, and hyper-vigilance, but CPTSD goes further: it often affects a person's core identity. People with CPTSD frequently struggle with emotional dysregulation, negative self-concept, and has significant relational impairment.

Treatment approaches for CPTSD are similar to those used for PTSD, but the process is often more in-depth and unfolds in phases: stabilization, trauma processing, and integration. Stabilization comes first and focuses on building emotional regulation skills while establishing trust and a sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship. Once a foundation is in place, trauma processing begins, which means working through the memories, somatic tension, and emotions. The final phase, integration, is about rebuilding: rewriting your personal narrative, reconnecting with your values and identity, strengthening relationships, and finding meaning in life beyond feeling stuck.
